Jeromy Laux:
Icelandic Exposure

Photography Exhibition / 2019

Photographer: Jeromy Laux
Host: Jeromy Laux
Venue: Olentangy River Brewing Company
Film Processor: Dodd
Camera Scanner & Printer: Midwest Photo

In an attempt to push back against creative burnout, all digital photography equipment was eschewed and a manual focus film camera - a Mamiya 645 - was selected to capture the stunning landscape and fascinating culture of Iceland.

Upon the project's completion, an exhibition and book were produced which garnered praise from National Geographic's Photo Editor, and was showcased at CCAD's yearly creative conference, Making Midwest.

The Imagery

All photos shot in Iceland, with a short film produced exclusively for CCAD's Making Midwest Conference.

“Icelandic Exposure is a love song to the art of photography and to the subjects Jeromy Laux photographed. Laux’s choice of creating images with Kodak Porta 160 and 400 film reveals Laux’s patience and dedication to his vision and his craft, a refreshing approach to image making in a world oversaturated by the instant gratification of digital photography. Icelandic Exposure reveals Laux’s interpretation of Iceland in fine grain and with a palate as muted and stark as the landscape, and with it brings tender portraits that linger in the viewer’s visual memory”
